Orooj-e-Zafar
Orooj-e-Zafar fancies herself a spoken word poet, certified overthinker, and is still acclimatizing to being seen. Most recently, she won the 2nd Annual Judith Khan Memorial Poetry Prize and was a runner-up of the Pakistan Poetry Slam 2016. She likes her poetry with tea and writes too many self-addressed poem-letters in hopes of salvaging her relationship with herself. She thinks she’s getting there but until then, she allows herself quiet mornings in Bani Gala with Troye Sivan, Perfume Genius and not enough time to read.
Orooj was first published as a poet-child, at TMS, at the tender age of sixteen — being a part of TMS was her unspoken dream for years. She now dreams of nurturing the love of performance poetry and storytelling in everyone she meets, especially people in Islamabad, her hometown by helping organize regular open mic events, writing panels and starting a poetry podcast and the like. She strongly believes, if communicated aptly, poetry has the power to pen all the secrets the world houses and in its merit, change lives for the better.
