WHY JOIN US?

For starters, we’re on the lookout for fresh and interesting talent and can offer you an environment where innovation and creativity aren’t just encouraged, they’re a mode of life. Many of our past and current staff members have gone on to create magazines of their own (Sr. Articles Editor Mahnoor Yawar), work for CNN (Contributing Articles Editor Jess McHugh), work on other literary magazines (Sr. Fiction Editor Casey Harding, Asst. Fiction Editor Constance A. Dunn, Literature Editor Jacob Silkstone), seek gainful employment in the development and social work sector (Features Editors Sana Hussain and Maria Amir, former Creative Lead Hassan Sagheer and former Contributing Editor for Articles, Ghausia Rashid Salam), gain creative writing fellowship experience (Junior Fiction Editor Umamah Wajid), and many, many others. The magazine aims to maximize the learning experience of its staff within their departmental focuses and expand their knowledge wherever possible.

WE’VE BEEN BUSY…

We are looking to build up our full-time staff with applicants able to put in at least 10 hours per week. We’ve published some of the best poetry and fiction from over 80 countries including work from Pulitzer winner (and Booker Prize 2013 shortlisted writer) Jhumpa Lahiri, Musharraf Ali Farooqi, Mohsin Hamid, Moniza Alvi, Kamila Shamsie, Anis Shivani, Luke Kennard, S.J. Fowler, Jeet Thayil, Sidin Vadukut, Tishani Doshi, Shikha Malaviya, Anuradha Roy, Ravi Shankar, among others. Earlier this year, the magazine was shortlisted for the Saboteur Awards as Best Magazine, becoming the first non-US / non-UK-based magazine to attain that honor… and the first Pakistani magazine to do so. We’re ambitious and we’re on the lookout for talent that amazes and inspires us. The magazine is also now in print. After wrapping our first Internship Program where undergraduate and International Baccalaureate students from Italy, China, Austria, India, Bosnia, Puerto Rico, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, the United States and the Channel Islands participated, we are reopening applications.
