It’s Blüte in German,
sounding like –
Well, almost blood or bleed,
as if it’s life blood
that feathers the trees
in soft globes, falls,
stuffs itself into the mouth
of a drain, or the cracks
of pavement. It could be
more like bloat
for the way it swells
on the branches
like flesh on bone, ballooning
and sweet, then fattens
the concrete below,
whispers around our feet.
